Grootbos Nature Reserve, with its 5-star lodges, ecotourism is a jewel and luxury in Cape Town. Spectacularly located, it covers 1750 hectares, overlooking Walker Bay, the Mecca of breeding whales. Not surprisingly, that it will be specialized in flora (over 750 recorded species of plants) and the South African marine diversity.

Grootbos offers both adults and children, a large number of various activities, such as, for example, trips to the beach and natural pools, treasure hunts and horse rides. Especially surrounded by experienced guides, children can, therefore, have fun while cultivating.

The lodge, located in the middle of three beautiful gardens that reflect the style and African inspiration, offers a stunning panorama overlooking Walker Bay. Built from stone, thatch and a selection of fine wood, the buildings are of a modern and elegant style.

Grootbos offers 11 suites of independent luxury. Each has a separate bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a large living room with fireplace and a terrace. The size of the suites varies depending on the number of beds. One twin will be approximately 120m², one in a single bed, 80m².

The lodge in the forest, built in 2006, is an architectural masterpiece in contemporary and sophisticated design. It lies on the edge of the ancient Milkwood Forest, 800 years old.

The lodge consists of the main building and luxurious self-catering suites built on the edge of the forest. The materials used for construction (slate roofs, brick, and glass) have been carefully chosen to allow quick glances over the dunes and the ocean.

The lodge offers a restaurant, a champagne bar, a wine cellar for private dinners and a modern conference center. Different 90m² luxury suites provide the perfect blend of privacy and comfort. Each is decorated with rich elements of romantic canopy beds, comfortable lounge with fireplace and minibar. From the terrace, gaze at the ocean and the mountains and watch a blazing sunset. Trails through the woods lead to different suites.
